Jibo Social Robotics
Jibo Social Robotics project, undertaken in 2016, aimed to pioneer in the realm of empathetic, multi-turn conversation for home assistants. Unlike Alexa, Siri, or Google Home, Jibo was designed to offer character-driven interaction, pushing the boundaries of social robotics.

Challenge
The primary challenge was to develop effective multi-turn conversations with multiple users for Jibo. This entailed ensuring rapid and accurate validation of VUI (Voice User Interface) design decisions, crucial for the product's market launch.
Approach
Working in a team of interns, we developed a 'Wizard of Oz' (WoZ) tool for real-time testing of Jibo's interactions, using a TTS engine and unique animations. I designed and conducted over 100 user tests, including A/B, qualitative, and quantitative methods, tailored for various demographic stakeholders.
Outcome
My contribution was instrumental in establishing a robust feedback loop for the startup, enabling data-driven design decisions for Jibo's VUI. The multi-turn dialogue and persona designs I helped develop became a part of Jibo's user interaction library. The robot was featured on Time Magazine's 'Best Inventions of the Year' in 2017.

A decision tree I used to map out Jibo's interactions for a multi-turn dialogue test.
