Problem
Even with over fifty colleges and universities in Greater Boston and all the creative momentum that students bring to the area, there are no intercollegiate showcases dedicated to connecting student filmmakers. In addition, traditional film festivals can require $45-$75 submission fees, which at times cannot be covered in an undergraduate's budget and can restrict them from participating in the industry.
Action
In response, my friends and I worked with schools, film departments, and student clubs to gather submissions and host the Boston Student Film Festival. Working with local sponsorships, we're able to cover organizing costs and allow student filmmakers to submit to and attend the event for free.
Response
In three festival seasons, received 500+ submissions and showcased 71 student films from 20 colleges and universities across New England.
